Daily Devotional – Love is a Verb

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 John 4: 7-17. One of my favorite songs from DC Talk was titled “Love is a Verb”. God demonstrated love to us by Jesus dying on the cross. In the same way that God showed that love is a verb, we are to show that God lives in us by showing love to those around us!

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

fall scents for your home

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus.”

Have you been reborn? Do you have the spirit of God living within you? I do not wish to hear your answers, I wish to see your answers!

The Bible clearly states that love is a verb. That we are to love our neighbors and in order to show love, to demonstrate love. The bible clearly shares that if we have no love for our neighbors, that we can not know God or have Him within us.

When last did you reach out to someone to see how you could assist them? Have you placed yourself in an uncomfortable position recently so that others may receive a more favorable position? Remember that Jesus said of the widow, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others” in Luke 21. With God, it is not how much we give, but how much we sacrifice!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you that You demonstrated and showed us love, and how to love. You are love and if I abide in You, then I become love with You! Show me someone that I can show love to today!

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
