Daily Devotional – Love Sacrifices for Love Sake

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Isaiah 52:10-15. Jesus knew that the abuse and torture that He would face at the hand of His creation was going to be severe. Those He created would beat Him till He no longer maintained the human form that He took on.

“The Lord will lay bare his holy arm
    in the sight of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth will see
    the salvation of our God.

11 Depart, depart, go out from there!
    Touch no unclean thing!
Come out from it and be pure,
    you who carry the articles of the Lord’s house.
12 But you will not leave in haste
    or go in flight;
for the Lord will go before you,
    the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

The Suffering and Glory of the Servant

13 See, my servant will act wisely[b];
    he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.
14 Just as there were many who were appalled at him[c]
    his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being
    and his form marred beyond human likeness—
15 so he will sprinkle many nations,[d]
    and kings will shut their mouths because of him.
For what they were not told, they will see,
    and what they have not heard, they will understand.”

Jesus suffered and sacrificed for love sake

Love is the most powerful emotion and action that this world knows. The words have been watered down and perverted by our society and media.

Love has become a fleeting emotion that comes and goes. People discard those that they love as soon as they stop being selfishly fulfilled by those who fawn over them. The emotion is also played on by those looking to manipulate and control.

None of the modern societies’ depiction of love resembles the manner and sacrifice of Jesus for humanity. Jesus was beaten till the cusp of death by those that justified their actions in killing an innocent man.

Let us love like Jesus. Let us be serious and sacrifice our personal needs and desires for the good and provision of those that we say “I love you” to. The three words have tremendous value, but let us actually love.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You stood quietly as a lamb before Your sacrifice. You took so much more than the beating that day, You took our sin and forgave it. Your love is an exemplary example to us, help me to truly love as You do.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
