Daily Devotional – Every Knee Will Bend

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Philippians 2:1-11. As we remember that we fight not against the flesh and blood standing before us, we are able to see past the battle and love the person standing before us.

“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

fall scents for your home

Who, being in very nature[a] God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
    he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death—
        even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.”

The war is won already and we fight the known!

As an athlete, I loved the competition and equal chance that both my competitor and I had to be victorious. With the victor being unknown right till the end, I used to compete till the very last moment of the battle. It ain’t over till the so-called “fat lady” sings!

While the battle was not guaranteed, it gave me the encouragement to continue and fight. I now fight in a war that is already done and dusted. Jesus won the war on the cross over 2,000 years ago.

Before I would take encouragement in the battle that was not completed. Now I take confidence in the battle that I fight each day. I have confidence and faith because whether I lose or win this battle, the war is already won! I am on the winning side and the punches I take for our side are nothing like the ones that Jesus took for me.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You have won the war already. The war and battle that I face are not what I see with our physical eyes, rather open my eyes to the real war. Help me to see that You have already been victorious so that I can love and live like I am on the victorious side!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
