Daily Devotional – Love is a Protector

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 91: 1-8. As a parent, grandparent, and friend to many, I want to protect my family and friends. I want to protect them from what is causing them despair or shall bring heartache in the future.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

fall scents for your home

Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked

David calls on us to find refuge in God. To run unto Him and hide within His spirit. In the same way that a bird’s feathers fluff up and make a hidden place, God has a hiding place for each of us. We can hide beneath God’s wings and be held close for extra protection.

God watches over and out for His children. By His Spirit and angels, He keeps us safe and secure. Yes, there may be pestilence and destruction all around you, but God will hold you close and protect us from this world. God may allow some challenges in our lives, but He is ensuring that we are not destroyed.

So often, God leaves us to our own devices. He knows that in our own strength and efforts, heartache and punishment. Paul in 1 Corinthians 5 hands off Hymenaeus and Alexander because of their continued and unrepented teaching of a false gospel. He knew that they would eventually be caught in their lies and deceitful behavior.

Protection is found in the body of Christ and closer to God. Find yourself close to Him and know that no matter who you see falling by your side, God will rescue and protect you!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, that You offer me protection. Your protection covers all that this world can throw at me as well as the protection from myself. I draw near to You today so that I can allow You to be my protector and savior. Not by my might or strength, but by Your Spirit!

In Jesus name
Amen
