Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Zephaniah 3:12-17. Sing and shout for joy! The lover of your soul rejoices over you and fights off all those that attack. A mighty warrior, Jesus flexes His strength to rescue His bride.
“But I will leave within you
the meek and humble.
The remnant of Israel
will trust in the name of the Lord.
13 They will do no wrong;
they will tell no lies.
A deceitful tongue
will not be found in their mouths.
They will eat and lie down
and no one will make them afraid.”
14 Sing, Daughter Zion;
shout aloud, Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
Daughter Jerusalem!
15 The Lord has taken away your punishment,
he has turned back your enemy.
The Lord, the King of Israel, is with you;
never again will you fear any harm.
16 On that day
they will say to Jerusalem,
“Do not fear, Zion;
do not let your hands hang limp.
17 The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Love is Warrior fighting for you
With whom do we fight and quarrel? We so often lose sight of where the battle truly lies. God’s word reminds us that our battles are not with flesh and blood, but with principalities and powers of satan’s kingdom.
Let our interactions with others be full of love and compassion. In the same way that Jesus intercedes and fights on our behalf, let us fight with the spiritual forces that attack. They seek to divide and crush our families, friendships and communities.
God does not rebuke us, He draws us nearer when we sin against Him. Let us draw others closer when they are weak and struggling, it is in that moment that they need true love more than any other time.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Jesus, that You have fought and died for me. You have always come to my rescue, never taking Your eyes from me. Teach me and strengthen me today to love as You do!
