Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 97:1-12. We get to call upon the Lord over all the earth and universe. No t only as our Lord and God, but as our Father who intimately loves us.
“The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
let the distant shores rejoice.
2 Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3 Fire goes before him
and consumes his foes on every side.
4 His lightning lights up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.
5 The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.
6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
and all peoples see his glory.
8 Zion hears and rejoices
and the villages of Judah are glad
because of your judgments, Lord.
9 For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth;
you are exalted far above all gods.
10 Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
for he guards the lives of his faithful ones
and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light shines[a] on the righteous
and joy on the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous,
and praise his holy name.”
Who is Lord over your life?
I often as myself the question. “Who is this action and decision going to glorify?” It is only too easy for me to do things that elevate me in the eyes and opinions of those around me. An action of generosity or kindness can often bring many thanks and glory to me.
God has called us to reflect His glory and majesty. In a world that is always seeking its own glory and honor, we may find it hard to fight the tide by taking the route of humility. Others may attempt to manipulate us or the situation to get their way. Our hope though is in our Father to work it all together for our good and His glory!
Lord reign in me, in all of Your power. You are the Lord of all of me, this world, and the entire universe. Let us remember to humbly submit ourselves to Jesus, our savior and redeemer.
