Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 2 Chronicles 20:5-9. I love the opportunities that I get to have a little silence. Without the noise of others and all the responsibilities of life, I get to turn my gaze heavenward. I gaze upon the Lord Almighty, and my heart swells with joy!
“Then Jehoshaphat stood up in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at the temple of the Lord in the front of the new courtyard 6 and said:
“Lord, the God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you. 7 Our God, did you not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend? 8 They have lived in it and have built in it a sanctuary for your Name, saying, 9 ‘If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us.”
I stare in awe at the throne of God!
Today I want to help you to slow down and look upon our creator and Father in heaven. Look too upon our savior, Jesus, the son of God. With the world spinning around us, it is sometimes difficult to stop and focus on what truly matters in this life. The Bible speaks of how God reveals Himself to us through His creation. How have you seen the fingerprints of our God in creation today?
The Almighty sits upon the throne that is so bright and white, that we can not even look directly at it. He is the ruler over all the kingdoms of this earth.
As we cover ourselves from the glory of God, singing holy, holy is the Lord Almighty. Jesus comes toward us and pulls us up with an inviting embrace. The God and Lord of the heavens and earth loves us more than any other creation as He created us in His image.
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Father, that You are the Lord Almighty. You rule and reign over all that You have created. I come before You today to take in Your wonder and majesty for I am in awe of You! Help me to see this world and creation as You do.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
