Daily Devotional – The Locusts Cleaned Up

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Exodus 10:1-5. The hail had broken and killed any living thing in Egypt. The locusts came to clean up the trail of God’s movement. Life will eat away at the proof of God’s love.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these signs of mine among them that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the Lord.”

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, “This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me. If you refuse to let them go, I will bring locusts into your country tomorrow. They will cover the face of the ground so that it cannot be seen. They will devour what little you have left after the hail, including every tree that is growing in your fields.”

God’s name will be exalted

I have always marveled at the action of building alters. God has encouraged His children over the generations to remember His previous acts. It is meant to build up our faith as God takes us from level to level in life.

I know for myself, I often look back at the times where God clearly moved and miraculously intervened in my life. Life gets tough and remembering how God has been faithful in the past encourages us to fight on.

God continued to strip the wealth and glory of Egypt. He was going to build a legacy of Israel where they would tell their children and their children’s children of how a great nation was brought to their knees. What was not killed or destroyed yet, was going to be devoured.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, that You are working for my benefit and Your glory. Help me to pass your story on. Tell those around me and the generations to come of Your glory and Your great love through me.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
