Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Phillippians 2:5-11. My greatest desire and prayer is that Jesus is lifted on high and exalted in the eyes of those that I see day to day. I know that in order for Jesus to be lifted on high, I need to be surrendered.
“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.”
Jesus is the example of obedience
Jesus, equal with God in standing, power, and dominion looked at His creation. Submitting His authority and inheritance to the throne of the Universe, Jesus took on the physical form and flesh in order to pay the cost of redemption.
Bending His knee and casting off His rights, Jesus took on the nature of a servant. He served the Father under His authority and served His creation with His wisdom, miracles, and love.
The sacrifice that Jesus made has earned Him recognition as the name above all names. Let us do everything that we can today to lift Jesus lifted high. May all that you encounter today have a better knowledge of their savior and that includes one of admiration and exaltation.
