Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalms 24:1-10. My prayer oh God is that this will be a generation and people that seek Your face and presence. That You will renew our hearts and bring about a rebirth of our spirits as we surround ourselves with You.
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;
2 for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.
3 Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not trust in an idol
or swear by a false god.[a]
5 They will receive blessing from the Lord
and vindication from God their Savior.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek your face, God of Jacob.[b][c]
7 Lift up your heads, you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
the Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—
he is the King of glory.”
Lay down our idols so that we can lift our hands
Our blessings and rewards flow directly from the throne of our Father. He is the one who owns and holds all the world within His hands. Our Father calls us to not focus our vision and minds on the things of this earth but to lift our heads and focus on Him.
Through the blood of Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross, we have had our sin-stained hands and hearts washed clean. The blood stains that washed away the filth and shame of the sin poured freely out of love. How can we not gratefully lift our cleaned hands and pure hearts toward heaven with praise and worship?
Let us look to the redeemer and savior of all knowing that our clean hands and hearts have been new again. Place your faith and hope in the Lord that is strong and mighty in battle.
