Daily Devotional – Let’s See the Glory of God

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Exodus 24:13-18. When Jesus cried out to His Father upon the cross before giving up His soul, the curtain to the Holy of Holies was torn in half. The death of Jesus has opened the way for us to enter the presence and glory of God at any time.

“Then Moses set out with Joshua his aide, and Moses went up on the mountain of God. 14 He said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you. Aaron and Hur are with you, and anyone involved in a dispute can go to them.”

15 When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it, 16 and the glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud covered the mountain, and on the seventh day the Lord called to Moses from within the cloud. 17 To the Israelites the glory of the Lord looked like a consuming fire on top of the mountain. 18 Then Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights.”

We are welcomed into God’s presence

The presence and glory of God were often referred to as a heavy cloud or fire throughout the Old Testament. Few people have been fortunate enough to experience the glory of God in this way. That said, it is not for the lack of God’s efforts.

God has made wide the way for us to enter His presence at any time and in any location. If we do not experience the glory of God, it is purely due to our effort and choice. Do you crave the glory of God in your life?

Let us take seriously the fact that God is unchanging and never moving. If we are far from God it is not He that moved. We allow ourselves to become distracted and focus on the things of this world. Draw nearer to our Father and focus on His glory.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that You are glorious and shine brighter than the sun. I am sorry that I allow myself to become distracted by everything else rather than focusing on You. Today I come into Your presence and ask that You satisfy my craving.

In Jesus’s Name,
Amen
