Daily Devotional – Above All I Just Want Jesus

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 1:1-14. I have tasted and experienced God’s presence and there is nothing sweeter. I do have a sweet tooth and love my chocolate, but God satisfies far more than anything else.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.

There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

God became flesh to take on our weakness

There is nothing better than getting caught up in the presence of my God. I truly never want to live and wish that I could just find myself in that place all day every day. I long for the day where I get to see Him face to face and can experience Him 100%.

Life requires me to be busy! With work, kids, and other responsibilities I have to leave that intimate place. I do often find myself catching the glimpse of my Father in the ordinary things of this world. It such is a beautiful surprise and reminder of how great Jesus is!

I encourage you today to come before God with total abandonment. Search after His heart, chase after it, and nothing else. Nothing else compares and will fulfill your needs like God’s spirit. Let Him come close and engulf your spirit with His love and peace! Jesus came to earth to be with us, so welcome Him in.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for taking on flesh and coming to earth Jesus. It truly is glorious that You came to be with us. I don’t anything other than You and Your presence. come again!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
