Daily Devotional – Jesus Means Savior

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 John 4:13-18. When the angel appeared to Joseph, Matthew recalls that Joseph was told to name his new baby Jesus. Jesus, because it means that “he will save his people from their sins.”

This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Our savior was our creator

We are all in need of a savior. We can not drag ourselves out of a deep muddy pit. No matter what your background is, we all have a past that we believe that we need saving from. A 3rd party that is outside of the situation and not motivated by personal agendas.

Jesus came to save not just the Jews, but every soul born upon the earth. His sacrifice retroactively forgave sins and re-wrote the laws for the future to come. We are all His creation, equally created before God. God equally offers us all salvation, hope, and peace.

Jesus saved us to live in God as God lives in us. God wanted to save us from ourselves by being one with each of His creations. He would lead and guide us, giving us the ability to love as He loves us. Today, consider how Jesus has saved you. Think about what He has saved you from and see who and how you can reach out to save another.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You came to earth to be our savior. Your sacrifice on the cross paid for transgressions. The blood flowed to satisfy the law, but Your love leads the way. You are one with me, lead me to those that You would have me love today. Help me to drive their fear out with Your love!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
