Daily Devotional – Jesus He Knows Me

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Matthew 7: 15-23Does Jesus know you? We are warned in scripture that many who claim to have been about God’s work will be turned away. They will be turned away not for their actions, but because of their relationship, rather lack thereof of.

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

True and False Disciples

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”

fall scents for your home

How much do you do for God’s kingdom? Are you heavily involved, or skate around the fringes? Do you work in ministry or organize prayer meetings? Sometimes we can get bogged down in the mundane routine of activity that we forget to communicate with God!

I strongly believe that in all that we do, our first ministry is our home life and family. It is a litmus test for any ministry outside the home. We need to first take care of our children. We need to disciple and mentor them. Christianity is not like the schooling system where you drop your kid at school and let the church train your children. Christianity is a life lived a day at a time.

We can put on various masks for those outside the house, but our children see the real us. This is what will form their opinion on  God and whether searching Him is worth the effort.

The thought that we want to consider this week is, “Does God truly know me?” Take some time to think about this today and this week. Ask God to show you, and consider why you think that God knows you?

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

It is so easy to get caught up in all the challenges and routines of life. You created me for You. You created me for a relationship and fellowship. I want to take time today, and every day going forward to contemplate how I will draw closer to You, my Father in heaven! Guide and lead me, please!

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
