Daily Devotional – It’s All About Jesus

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 40: 1-10. We spend much of our days building a name for ourselves. We work and strive to see our names in lights, flashing brightly for everyone to see! Forgetting that everything in this world will return to dust.

I waited patiently for the Lord;

    he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
    out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
    and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
    a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
    and put their trust in him.

fall scents for your home

Blessed is the one
    who trusts in the Lord,
who does not look to the proud,
    to those who turn aside to false gods.[b]
Many, Lord my God,
    are the wonders you have done,
    the things you planned for us.
None can compare with you;
    were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
    they would be too many to declare.

Sacrifice and offering you did not desire—
    but my ears you have opened[c]
    burnt offerings and sin offerings[d] you did not require.
Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—
    it is written about me in the scroll.[e]
I desire to do your will, my God;
    your law is within my heart.”

I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly;
    I do not seal my lips, Lord,
    as you know.
10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
    I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help.
I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness
    from the great assembly.

Building something that actually lasts

David prophesies in Psalm 40 about Jesus.  Jesus, who came to do God’s will. He would establish a new offering that can take away sins. The offering of his body and blood would settle the debt once and for all. Jesus, changed the world, the universe the physical and spiritual worlds forever. No matter what we do or achieve on our time on earth, we will never compare.

Rather than us building our own kingdom and striving for empty dreams, we could be working for the Kingdom of God.

God has done so much for us. He created and breathes life into us. He sustains our heartbeat and functioning bodies. More than that, He is the lord or wonders. He is the Great I Am!

Everyday Sunday we leave church encouraged to start over. May you start today truly creating the legacy of Jesus!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, that You are the Almighty and miracle-working God. Forgive me for always making everything about me and my efforts. Starting today I want to create Your legacy. Help me by Your Spirit to bring glory and honor to You and Your Kingdom. Give me Your wisdom and guidance.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
