Daily Devotional – I Belong to The Lord

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Peter 2:4-10. We are all accounted for. We are not free to do as we wish and desire since we have been bought and paid for. Thankfully the Lord that has paid for us, loves us enough to give us freedom!

“As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house[a] to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For in Scripture it says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
    a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”[b]

fall scents for your home

Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,

“The stone the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone,”[c]

and,

“A stone that causes people to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall.”[d]

They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

God created it all for Himself

As a parent, we have experienced the great joy of seeing that which was brought forth from us. As we watch our children grow and take on their God-given purpose, our hearts swell with love and pride. We get to experience a portion of the joy that God experiences when He gazes upon His children.

God created this earth for one purpose, the earth was created for His children to live and experience the love and splendour of their creator and Father. We have received mercy and grace so that we could find ourselves in the presence of the one who loves us more than we could ever grasp or consider.

In the same way that Jesus was rejected and discarded by His very creation, we too will be cast aside. Let us though not gain our value and purpose from those that reject us. We should find our place and design in Jesus, the one who paid the ultimate price for our redemption!

Let’s Pray

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for not accepting the rejection of most as the opinion of all. I choose You every day over everything else, building my life on You and Your word as the cornerstone of my life!

In Your Name,

Amen
