Daily Devotional – I am Free Because of Jesus

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Galatians 5:13-21. Through Jesus, we have victory and get to be part of the Kingdom of the Lord of lords. His blood has bought us healing, peace, confidence, and freedom from all that would seek to ensnare us.

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[b] 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[c] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

My freedom leads me to serve

The one that Jesus sets free is certainly free. My freedom has released the shackles and bondages that used to consume my thoughts and weigh down my soul. The freedom that I have received from the death of Jesus has given me more than I can point to in the physical world.

While I am free, I have chosen not to just live life without the consequences of my decisions and actions. I have surrendered my freedom to the law of God and found that this yoke is light and easy. Nothing in the law of God condemns me or brings pain and destruction to those around me.

Jesus has offered us a life lived greater than anything that we can achieve by our own efforts. Let us surrender our freedom before our God as a sacrifice on His alter today!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that You purchased my freedom with the death of Jesus. I have never known such joy and peace since being freed by Your sacrifice. Help me to live a free life according to Your will today.

In Jesus’s Name,
Amen
