Daily Devotional – Hope for Salvation

daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 42 Psalm 6-11. Hope is the evidence of faith, and it is impossible to please the Lord without faith.

“My soul is downcast within me;
therefore I will remember you
from the land of the Jordan,
the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.
7 Deep calls to deep
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.

8 By day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.

9 I say to God my Rock,
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning,
oppressed by the enemy?”
10 My bones suffer mortal agony
as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”

11 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.

We are hopeful for our salvation

We all need a savior to redeem us from ourselves. Our sinful nature seeks to serve and elevate itself above everything and everyone else. We need salvation from ourselves and the sin that seeks to entangle us.

In faith we reach out and place our trust in Jesus. We surrender our dreams, desires and thoughts to the Lord. In faith we wait on His salvation and provision for every situation.

Hope goes hand in hand with faith. First comes hope, hope that we can and will receive salvation. Without the hope initiating the faith, we have noting or no one to place faith in.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You are able to take take my hope and reward it with faith. I hope in you for my salvation from sin and death, surrendering my life into Your hands today.
