Daily Devotional – The Holy Spirit Dwells Within Us

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Corinthians 6:13-20. We are the physical church and body of Christ on earth. The living stones that make up the church. Filled up and overflowing the Holy Spirit throughout the world that we inhabit.

“You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”[b] 17 But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.[c]

18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

As the body, we are the hands and feet of Jesus

By the power of God and through His Holy Spirit, God raised Jesus from the dead. The same power and the same Holy Spirit have been transplanted onto you and I. As we walk throughout the world today, we are taking God with us into every corner of the world.

Considering that each of us is a living vessel containing the living God, how do we do in treating those that we see every day. Each one that we see has God within them, and so we are treating God the way that we treat each other.

Let us remember that we are all the temple of the Holy God. Let us be wary of how and what we do ourselves to our bodies. Be wary of how we interact with others. As the hands and feet of God, we have the opportunity to love and give compassion to everyone.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, for considering me worthy to be your body on this earth. Help me to see You in each person and to love them with Your compassion. Give me Your power as I reach out to help others in Your name today.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
