Daily Devotional – Freedom Where Christ Reigns

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 2 Corinthians 3:12-18. A song of freedom is on my lips. I sing with a grateful and thankful heart for I am saved by mercy and love. All that I can feel is God’s wonderful love and salvation!

“Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. 13 We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. 15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate[a] the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

We are free because of the blood of Jesus

The priests of the old testament used to enter the holy of holies with a rope tied around an ankle. In the case that God would strike them down for sin, the rest of the priests would be able to drag the unfortunate one from God’s presence.

With the death of Jesus on the cross, He tore the veil with the temple that stood as a barrier to the holy of holies. The death of Jesus turned the entire world into His temple. God would be able to roam freely as humankind was not covered by the blood of Jesus.

The Holy Spirit would dwell within each person making up the church. God’s people became the holy of holies and would take God to the corners of the earth that He created.

The blood of Jesus has given us freedom from sin and shame. We can confidently approach the King of all and Lord of the universe!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, for creating the way for me to freely approach You and experience Your wonderful presence. I sometimes take this freedom for granted and ask that You will help me to remember how precious Your presence is!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
