Daily Devotional – God’s Word Instructs Righteousness

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 2 Timothy 3:10-17. Have you been convinced of the benefit and purpose of seeking the Kingdom of God? Through all that you have seen in life, do you believe that humanity is in need of saving?

You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Let us train in righteousness

We get good at the things that we practice. Most people have the bare essential coordination and ability to engage in the sport of their choice. It is the measure of their effort and time invested in training that determines their accolades. In the same way, the more that we train and practice righteousness, the more that we will reflect the glory of God.

As Paul informed Timothy, we should heed his warning. For those who choose to seek a life of righteousness, they too will face and need to overcome the persecution of the world.

We learn and train our righteousness by investing hours and years in the presence of our Father and His word. May you follow the prompting and call of the Holy Spirit to draw nearer and embrace the word of truth and life.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You are the author of life and love. As I give myself over to Your word, I ask that You instruct and lead me. Guide me in Your righteousness and glory.

In Jesus’s Name,

Amen
