Daily Devotional – Faith in Practice

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Matthew 7:24-29. Have you ever explained to a child the difference between hearing and listening? While they may hear the sounds and words spoken, you know they listened of they do as you ask!

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.”

Application demonstrates acceptance

So many people discuss the scripture from Matthew from the perspective of the foundation. Studying this scripture recently, it jumped out at me. The difference between the fool and the wise man is the application of the words.

While the example Jesus used clearly makes sense and differentiates between the wise and foolish. The most important part of what He said, is that we need to apply the wisdom from the Kingdom of God.

Let us demonstrate our faith today by doing what we are instructed to do. Let us act out our love for God and man by taking time to experience each other and help those in need.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You are the author and giver of wisdom. Here I am today to show You my love and commitment. See all that I do today as the demonstration of my love for You!

In Jesus’s Name,

Amen
