Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Philippians 4:4-9. We sometimes think that it is just teenagers that don’t listen. Consider how Israel hardened their hearts against God over and over. In general, people don’t listen!

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”

God promises us that He is listening!

Do you have to repeat yourself constantly to family, friends, and co-workers? Speaking into a void is heartbreaking, especially when we are pouring out our souls and deepest feelings. Isn’t it good to know that our Father is listening?

Listening is the action of what is heard. God is speaking to us through His word to not be anxious for anything but to replace it with His peace. We need to be acting and living out His words, demonstrating that we too are listening!

The promise from our God and Father is that He is listening to every prayer, word, and thought. In your darkest times where it may seem that no one else is listening, Jesus is. He has experienced the greatest betrayal and trials and can empathize with you as He listens to your heart.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father, 

Thank you Father that You are listening. I can take comfort and be encouraged by the fact that not any cry out to You is in vain.
