Daily Devotional – God’s Fresh Start

daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Peter 5:5-11. Jesus humbled Himself, taking on flesh and the death on the cross, and now is seated on the throne with the Father. God is always working and in His time, He brings all things together as He intended.

“In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”[a]

fall scents for your home

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power forever and ever. Amen.”

God will establish His children’s strength

So often we labor in selfish ambition and in vain. Our pride breeds an arrogance that actually believes that our choice and will can overcome the will and workings of the Almighty God and Lord of all. In the same way, an entrepreneur arrogantly believes that their invention is what the world has been needing.

God though opposes arrogance and those that proudly wear it on their sleeves. He has clearly stated His pre-imminent place in the universe. The first commandment is that nothing nor no one should be placed above Him and His name.

Let us rather rest in God and humbly wait on His workings patiently. This year, God will restore and He will strengthen those that rely on His power and might. God’s fresh start is as sure as He raised Jesus from death.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

You are the One that holds all the universe within Your hands. You have promised to renew my strength if I wait on You. Lead me with Your comforting hands along this path of life.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
