Daily Devotional – God’s Children are Peacemakers

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Romans 14:16-23. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. As children of God, we seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.

19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.

22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.[c]”

Your serving is pleasing to God

So often we want to be right rather than correct. We dig our heels in, double down on our self-righteous beliefs, and refuse to bend and compromise. A peacemaker humbly submits their will to the ways and words of the Almighty God.

As children of God, our hearts are changed. We seek the will and glory of God our Father. The will of God is that we love and consider each other. Despite our differences, we should be seeking how we can build the church and help each other.

Let us take every opportunity to demonstrate love to each other.

When we love someone, we make the effort. In a world filled with discontent and at war with each other, what is missing is love. Let us, the children of God, be the leaders and examples for the world. Let our love speak for us!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you for calling us to approach Your throne. As Your child, I draw nearer and take joy in Your embrace. Give me Your strength as I reach out to love those around me today.

In Jesus Name,
