Daily Devotional – God Walking With Us

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Genesis 3:7-11. When God first created the earth and placed Adam and Eve on it, He would walk in the cool of the evening with His creation. God communed and live among His creation, as He intended it.

Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”

10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”

11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”

God only wanted communion

Jesus came to earth to be with His creation. The angel that told Joseph of the son to be born to Mary and him said to call their child “Immanuel”[g] (which means “God with us”) God had created the opportunity for Him to walk and be with His creation.

Upon Jesus’ ascension to heaven, God returned by His Holy Spirit to continue walking and talking with us. Throughout the scriptures, we find a God that is beckoning us to come away with Him.

Considering that God chases us and craves to be with His creation, it breaks His heart that we hideaway. We hide from Him in our selfish, proud sin, snubbing our nose at Him as if we know better. We also hide from God in our busy schedules. God wants you to abide in Him, be with Him, and walk with Him. Today, let us adjust our focus back to the one who created us for Him!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You came to earth to be with us, Your creation. You loved us those that You were able to walk and talk with. You went to the cross from them and everyone else. Help me today to find You. I ask that You come to walk and talk with me.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
