Daily Devotional – God Holds My Broken Heart Together

daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 117:6-13. I love the hope that David calls us to throughout the Psalms. We all feel that we face challenges greater than what we can bear to overcome. Life leaves us broken and sometimes hopeless.

“I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
    turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
Show me the wonders of your great love,
    you who save by your right hand
    those who take refuge in you from their foes.
Keep me as the apple of your eye;
    hide me in the shadow of your wings
from the wicked who are out to destroy me,
    from my mortal enemies who surround me.

10 They close up their callous hearts,
    and their mouths speak with arrogance.
11 They have tracked me down, they now surround me,
    with eyes alert, to throw me to the ground.
12 They are like a lion hungry for prey,
    like a fierce lion crouching in cover.

fall scents for your home

13 Rise up, Lord, confront them, bring them down;
    with your sword rescue me from the wicked.”

You are the apple of God’s eye!

When we come to the point of rock bottom, it is so easy to cry out to God for His helping hand. I’m not sure why we demand that our lives get to the point that we have lost all hope and life to reach out to God. God has been there the whole time, He has stood there on the sidelines, just waiting for us to let Him take control.

If you, like me, look around today and feel hopeless and broken-hearted. Know that you are not alone. Many people around the world shout heavenward at God, not for help and guidance, but in anger and pain.

Our Father wants to help though. We always hold Him at a distance because we try to prove our strength and abilities, even though our efforts are only like sinking sand, trapping us into a life of despair. Let us let God come into our world today. Let Him show us His great wonders as we take refuge in His strength!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you, that You are always there as our strength and rock. Forgive me for always trying to do everything myself and through my own strength. Bring my broken heart together today so that I can shine bright for Your glory!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
