Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Philippians 4: 4-9. Jesus has made it very clear as to why the world know that we are the children of God. So many times Jesus said that it would be our love toward and for one another that would speak to our changed hearts.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”

Have you ever tried to argue with someone while smiling? It too is very difficult to be gentle to one that you despise. As we abide in God and take on His character, His gentleness will flow forth. As we learn to love, from love Himself, gentleness will be evident in our lives.

The fruit that the Holy Spirit imparts to us, comes from God our Father. God’s gentleness is evident in the manner that He leads His children and flock. His care is not one of roughness, but rather of gentle whispering.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

I’m grateful that You have shown us such gentleness. I know that out of Your love for us, You are gentle with us in the manner that You speak and lead us. Help me to embody Your gentleness to all those that You love.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
