Daily Devotional – The Firm Foundation For the Church

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Isaiah 28:16-21. God wanted to build a strong and resilient church that would speak and testify to the good news of God’s salvation. In order to create a formidable church, God started the church with Jesus.

“So this is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone,
    a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation;
the one who relies on it
    will never be stricken with panic.
17 I will make justice the measuring line
    and righteousness the plumb line;
hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie,
    and water will overflow your hiding place.
18 Your covenant with death will be annulled;
    your agreement with the realm of the dead will not stand.
When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by,
    you will be beaten down by it.
19 As often as it comes it will carry you away;
    morning after morning, by day and by night,
    it will sweep through.”

fall scents for your home

The understanding of this message
    will bring sheer terror.
20 The bed is too short to stretch out on,
    the blanket too narrow to wrap around you.
21 The Lord will rise up as he did at Mount Perazim,
    he will rouse himself as in the Valley of Gibeon—
to do his work, his strange work,
    and perform his task, his alien task.”

Jesus, the name above every other name.

Jesus was tested, tried, and found to be worthy. Worthy to be the cornerstone of the Father’s church. As the cornerstone would be wise to build our lives upon Him. We should look to the example of Jesus and emulate the perfect example of love and compassion.

Salvation is found by placing all of our faith, hope, and trust in the name of Jesus. He is the key to our salvation, and so let us remember the importance of the cornerstone for not only the church, but our lives.

Jesus is worthy of all the praise and worship that we could ever bring before Him. We are not shaken or left helpless, rather Jesus is our strength and burden. Let us live for Him and bring Jesus the honor and glory that He is worthy of.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, that You have placed Jesus at the center of it all. Help me to keep Him at the center of all my thoughts as I look to copy His love for all that is around me.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
