Daily Devotional – What I Believe Is Making Me

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 6:35-42. What do you really believe about Jesus, His claims, and actions? What you believe will emerge as fruit and the words that you speak. Ultimately, what you believe is making you who you are!

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

41 At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”

What you believe is creating your future self.

In order for the greatest oak tree to fulfill its purpose, it first needs to be buried and die within the soil. As the seed transforms into a tree, so our belief transforms us from where we stand today. Like the seed has the potential to become a huge tree so we have the potential to walk a closer walk with our creator.

In order to take on our potential, we have to be sure of what we believe. We also need to check what we do truly believe. How does what we hold dear and consider truth match the Bible.  A great place to start is whether you believe that the Bible is truth and God’s word?

Who are God and Jesus? How do they interact and what is the relationship between the 2 of them? Take some time, take stock of life and what you truly believe. Consider what you truly believe because these beliefs will form your future.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, that You have laid before me the choice of life and death. Open my eyes as I consider and seek the truth. I desire a life that moves closer to You and so I want to consider what I believe about You.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
