Daily Devotional – Fear Not, God Gives us Peace

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 14:25-31. Searching for peace and inner peace has some traveling till the ends of the earth to still only find the same internal anguish. Trying to muster up peace or will it to be will not accomplish anything!

“All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

“Come now; let us leave.”

We can not have world peace until we have internal peace.

We can not live in fear while at peace. When I am feeling worried and fearful, I am not calm and collected. I am abrupt and rude to those around me. Jesus did not want to leave us troubled and afraid, but secure and confident in His love and salvation.

The world offers us peace by signing treaties where we agree to bite our tongue and not provoke each other. We are also told that inner peace is found by digging deep within our souls and finding ourselves.

Jesus contrary to all that you will find on peace said that we only have peace by receiving His peace. His Holy Spirit comes upon us, settling our hearts and minds. The peace that Jesus gives us will also drive out fear and trouble because we will rest in Him, His power and abilities and purposes.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You offer us Your peace. Your peace is not of this world and will overcome all my concerns and worries. Come fresh on me today by Your Holy Spirit and give me Your peace.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
