Daily Devotional – Who Is In Control After All

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional scripture today is John 15: 9-17. There is much that I do not understand. However, one thing I know is that God is ruler overall. He is especially the ruler and God over me and my household.

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

I join with Joshua (Joshua 24:15) is declaring that no matter what happens, God and His son Jesus rule and reign over my household. Everything that we do will be for the glory of Him and His kingdom. I can sleep at night because of my faith in God and His firm grip on everything.

fall scents for your home

God has chosen you and I for His own. He has adopted us into His family and body. In everything I do, I take encouragement and consider it joy because, in the end, He is in control of it all. If my efforts and attempts could trump God’s plan, then why would I need God. Wouldn’t I be god then?

Consider how we speak to and engage with people. Are you coming from a position of strength in Christ and His foundation? Or do you treat and speak to others from a position of weakness without any foundation? Do your strength and confidence come from elevating yourself above others? Do you serve others because you are fully aware of your sealed adoption into God’s family and your unwavering acceptance!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank You for Your plan! Thank you that You have adopted me and drawn me unto Yourself. Help me today by Your spirit to be fully aware of my position in You and the unwavering commitment that I have from You. Use my words as encouragement and building blocks for all of those around me today.

In Jesus name
Amen
