Daily Devotional – The Church Head is Jesus

daily edvotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Ephesians 4:7-16. Has Jesus become real and been revealed to you? For those that the Holy Spirit opens their eyes, come to see Jesus as more than some figure of history. Jesus becomes the very life that we live and the air that we breathe.

“But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it[a] says:

“When he ascended on high,
    he took many captives
and gave gifts to his people.”[b]

fall scents for your home

(What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions[c]? 10 He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) 11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

The head of the body is Jesus.

The head is the most important part of our body. Containing the brain, the supercomputer, controls and manages every aspect and the body’s functions and operations. It is no surprise that Jesus is referred to as the head of the church body.

Jesus leads and directs the body of the church and those that have found His wonderful grace. For those that have been grafted into the body of Christ by the Father in heaven, we are completely lost without the influence of Jesus.

As the church comes together as one body with one purpose, the leadership of Jesus pumps through the church as the blood our veins and arteries. Let us continue to focus on Jesus, the one that leads and guides His body and church.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

You have placed Jesus as the head of Your church. Let us continue to do as Jesus would do and love from a position of compassion. Lead and guide me today as You desire.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
