Daily Devotional – What If The Church Got Involved

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Acts 13:46-52. I was born and raised on the continent of Africa. We used to watch these BIG American evangelists come into town and blow out, proclaiming how many lives that they changed and saved.

“Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. 47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us:

“‘I have made you[f] a light for the Gentiles,
that you[g] may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’[h]

fall scents for your home

48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

49 The word of the Lord spread through the whole region. 50 But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. 51 So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.”

Will we surrender our pride and turn from our sins?

If we collated the statistics of the various evangelists and missionaries that went out from America, Africa would be saved 10 fold. The only problem is that Africa continues to be the most corrupt continent with the greatest level of poverty. This is not meant to be a beat down on Africa, rather a time to take a step back.

Part of the evaluation on how we send missionaries and missions overseas to Africa, South America, and Asia. While the Bible calls for the global evangelism and preaching of the Good News to everyone, what if we have it all wrong? If we send people to preach the gospel to the world, but our own country is dying, what is wrong?

Do the people around you see any difference between you, a follower of Christ, and the neighbor who is an alcoholic? Is there any fruit in your life that would make anyone around you want your life? I am not talking about financial prosperity, but when last did someone ask you how they could be more like you?

Reaching the world is a directive from Jesus, but we should also start reaching the world from our homes!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You came to earth to live and give us the perfect example. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon me today. I want to give people a reason to quench their thirst from You. Help our country and our world to find You again.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
