Daily Devotional – Blessed Are Those Persecuted

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 15:18-25. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’[b] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’[c]”

Blessed despite everything

We have always had this scripture recited to us by concerned family or friends when we face turmoil. To turn things on their head, what if Jesus was never referring to your difficulties?

fall scents for your home

The New Testament is full of scripture where we are told to change our perspective. When our focus is on the challenges and sadness of life, then we need rescuing from the circumstance or situation.

When our focus is on our Father, we realize that we are blessed!

God is all around us and despite any situation or how we feel, we have received great blessings. We have received the greatest gift, salvation, and redemption by the blood of Jesus. Let us stand firm today in our redemption for the world to see how great our God is!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you for coming closer to us. You and Your great blessings far exceed the numbers that I could count. Today I praise You for You are a good God!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
