Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Genesis 3:16-20. Actions and decisions have consequences. The result of our thoughts may not be evident immediately, however, they will inevitably be catching up.
” To the woman he said,
“I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;
with painful labor you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you.”

17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’
“Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.
18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return.”
20 Adam[c] named his wife Eve,[d] because she would become the mother of all the living.”
The consequences of decisions
We are living in a society where everyone is running as far as they can from responsibility and consequences. It seems that no one is willing to face those that they wrong. It is so much easier to run and hide and avoid any confrontation.
Adam and Eve were called in to face their music. God laid out before them the consequences of their sin. When you consider what God laid out, it doesn’t compare to the lies that satan gave them. The hard work doesn’t seem like something that would befall a god!
When we follow the word of God, we see how God’s curse on Adam and Eve has laid out a life of difficulty and challenges. Sin desires prosperity and eases only to deliver a cursed life of pain and toil.
Let’s Pray
Dear Father,
Thank you Father that Jesus came to overcome and conquer the veil of sin that covered the earth. While I may need to live this life amongst the consequences of sin, give me Your strength and love for all those that I see today!
