As I worship in my comfortable home, sipping on my wonderful spice tea, enjoying the presence of the Lord of lords and King of kings, I realize not all widows have this experience!
I learned a long time ago that Satan never created anything, for he is not the Creator! He can only pervert that which is special and meaningful! His goal is to steal the praise and worship which belong to Almighty God. I found out that if I wanted to see what was important in the spirit realm, I needed to look to see what was being perverted. What did the enemy want to steal?
Take the widow, for example. If God certainly hears her cry and will establish the borders or territory she takes in prayer, the enemy tries to make her feel unimportant and ineffective so that she will not pray. Or he tries to get her powerful prayers to be redirected towards him in worship to establish his territory.

In Acts chapter 6 the early church gathered the widows to feed them. It was called the “daily distribution.” It was so important that they formed the first Church board to oversee it with seven godly men including the disciple Philip and Stephen the martyr. Through caring for the widows, not just physically, but also spiritually (otherwise why would they need such high qualifications in leadership), the gospel spread. In other words, territory was taken for the Kingdom of God. It was so powerful that even some of the Pharisees became disciples!
In the city of Vrindavan, India, thousands of widows gather because they are promised food if they pray in the temple. Do you think the enemy has caught onto a principle that God intended for the church? Food is brought in by those worshiping lord Krishna and the widows sing their prayers for four hours a day! They sway to the notes and the rhythms many using hand cymbals singing their songs of devotion to what we know as false gods. These women have been cast out of society and blamed for the death of their husbands. “They cannot remarry. They must not wear jewelry. They are forced to shave their heads and typically wear white. Even their shadows are considered bad luck,” according to Arwa Damon of CNN. (Also see www.widowsofvrindavan.blogspot.com.)
But we are redeeming what the enemy has stolen! All over Andhra Pradesh, the fourth largest state in India, Anna’s Gate along with Manna Ministries are feeding the widows, leading them in worshiping the living God and providing a skill along with Divine purpose. Sewing For Purpose. What a mighty God we serve!
I encourage you to sing your prayers of devotion! Put worship music on and express your love to the King of kings and Lord over all lords, Jesus Christ. There is power in it! It will establish territory for the Kingdom of God and add real purpose into your life!
