Excerpt from Lesson 3 Field of Hope
Boaz noticed Ruth and asked his servant who she was. Boaz was intrigued with Ruth from the first moment he saw her. The servant told Boaz that she was the girl who came back with Naomi from Moab. He told Boaz that she asked to glean the field and she had been working there since morning. Boaz told Ruth not to go to any other fields but to stay there with his maidens. Boaz was not only intrigued with Ruth’s beauty, but he was impressed with her work ethic.

Boaz told Ruth that he asked the young men not to touch her. Why would Boaz do that? He told her to watch which field his workers harvested and follow them. He also told her if she got thirsty while working, she could drink from the vessels the young men had drawn. Ruth fell on her face, bowed down, and asked him why she found grace in his eyes and why he noticed her, a stranger?
Boaz told her that he saw how she had taken care of Naomi since Elimelech’s death and how she had left her parents and her country and came to live in a country with strangers. Boaz admired Ruth’s kindness, loyalty and dedication to Naomi. He told her the Lord was going to repay her a full reward for her work since she had come under His wings. Ruth asked Boaz to let her find favor in his sight since he had comforted her and spoken kindly to her even though she was not his servant. Then Boaz asked Ruth to stay and have dinner with them. Not only had Boaz shown kindness to Ruth, he had also shown mercy to her. Ruth had truly found favor in Boaz’s eyes. She had found a field of hope.
