Autumn in the Kitchen

Turquoise and Red

I was cleaning out the laundry room and set out the apple swag I love to use for my autumn kitchen decor. I noticed the beautiful combination made by pairing the apples with the turquoise blue platters that had been part of the summer decor.

I introduced the turquoise and red color combination a while back when I painted my desk. I shared this and a few other projects in my Copy Cat post.

The Spring/Summer look to the kitchen hutch.

Thus began the inspiration for the color combination for the autumn decor transformation of our kitchen hutch.

I searched for what I could find that would compliment these colors. I remembered I had painted a few canning jars turquoise and thought they’d make a lovely addition. I chose pewter and aged silver as an accent color.

I left the dried lavender in the white pitchers on top of the hutch and added a few more autumn colors for added interest.

On my desk I changed a few things by adding the Wardian case I had as well as adding a rooster candle lamp. I love the addition of roosters and chickens in my fall kitchen decor.

A few more changes to the corner were done. I hung a whimsical decor showing a chicken and a few eggs, I hung a couple copper decor, the decoupage Lazy Susan, and added one of the chinese boxes I purchased years back at an antique store. I placed the two red boxes on the hutch.

I placed the yellow chinese box atop the plate rack over the kitchen’s peninsula. I chose to use items that reflect the fall harvest season on the plate rack. I had recently canned some pears and love their amber color.

My son gave this rooster artwork to me. It was an art project done by one of his college friends.

Throughout the year I keep this French Market Basket, large Ironstone pitcher and apple swag atop the kitchen cabinets.

The last thing I changed was this pitcher for the blue and white pitcher that sits on the stool by the hutch.

I am quite pleased with the warmth created by the autumn decor changes – most especially pleased with the turquoise and red combination this year.

I appreciate your visit! I hope you have a Delightsome week!
