Arise and Shine

By Norine Rae –

During this glorious spring season when many of us celebrate the resurrection of Christ the words I keep hearing in my ears are, “arise and shine.” Yes, Christ has risen indeed and because of His wonderful gift of salvation we too now have the opportunity to arise and shine. Jesus gave his life so that we could live an abundant life full of joy and pleasure. Even with the pressure of life’s challenges we can choose to celebrate.

We have this incredible ability to shine for Him. Yes, what a pleasure it is to wake up in the morning and give thanks for the day, for the spring flowers, clear skies, and clean drinking water. Even though there may be forbidding circumstances and hardship all around us, certainly there is something to be grateful for if we look up and look out. Take the time to give thanks today! Thank God for His love, for His Son, and for the gift of salvation and life.

My life verse is Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Perhaps this Easter season our focus could be to reflect the glory of God so powerfully that people would be attracted to our light. Our works could simply be living a kingdom life style, which is one of thankfulness and embracing His loving presence.

As our hearts ignite with His burning embers we cannot deny the effect of His unquenchable flame. Thus the impact of those around us is surely great as they are touched by His goodness as His love shines brightly through our words and actions as we live. As a living flame of love you have the ability to penetrate even the darkest avenues of despair, bringing hope to the hopeless and peace to those who’s lives are fearful and chaotic. So, my challenge to you this season is to “arise and shine” being a beckon of light to the world as you embrace His love.
