Spring always seems to arrive like a big sigh of relief. We’ve made it through another winter, and we’re more than ready to welcome in a fresh season with its warmer weather, sunnier days, and sense of new beginnings.
As the season changes, so might your wardrobe. It’s out with the heavy sweaters, thick socks, and winter coats, and in with the lighter fabrics and brighter colors.
If you’re looking to update your closet this season, you might be wondering what’s in fashion? We’ve compiled a list of spring wardrobe staples for 2018, so you’ll be ready for a casual day or a fun night out in the warmer weather.
What to Wear This Spring
1. Color-Blocked Shirts: Color blocking, which uses contrasting shades, has been a trend for a while now, and it’s continuing into the spring. There are tons of ways to take advantage of this spring staple. For a more subtle look, choose blouses and tops with contrasting trim or pocket flap. For a bolder look, opt for a top with stripes of opposing colors or pair a colored top with pants in a contrasting hue.

2. Midi Dresses: A midi dress comes to below the knee, but is not floor length. It’s about midway down your leg. Midi dresses in fun, lively prints are especially popular this spring. These are great transitional dresses that are well suited for both work and play.

3. Lavender: Ulta Violet is Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2018 , so it makes sense that Lavender is one of the biggest colors for spring. This pretty purple hue works for both tops and bottoms, so it’ll be easy to incorporate into your wardrobe this season.

4. Polka Dot Tops: For those who are fans of spots, you’ll be pleased to know that polka dot tops are on trend this spring. These tops can be dressed up or down, depending on your plans, and they pair well with jeans, slacks, and skirts.

5. Embellished Coat: Spring weather is certainly warmer, but the chill in the air is completely gone. On those cooler days, reach for an embellished coat. The embellishment adds a bit of drama and excitement compared to a traditional coat. You’re sure to be noticed in a jacket with a bit of sparkle or shine.
6. Brightly Colored Scarves: The winter months are often dreary and dull, so it’s exciting to see some pops of color come when the season changes. A great way to add pops of color to your wardrobe is with brightly colored scarves. Whether you opt for a fun print or a bold solid, scarves are a great accessory in place of a necklace when wrapped once or twice around your neck.

7. Hoop Earrings: Hoops earrings are making a comeback this spring, so it’s time to pull yours out of storage or head to the store for a new pair. There are tons of variety when it comes to hoops, including size, design, and even color. You might prefer oversized hoops, or you might like smaller, daintier ones. You could for for traditional silver or gold, or add a pop of color to complement your outfit.
