5 Mindset Shifts to Get Unstuck

The entire month of January, we are training on the power of your mindset at the National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs. We are blogging about it, discussing it on the CAFÉ call, learning about it from our experts, and taking stock of ourselves with our template for the month on self-sabotage.

I have shared about the 8 mindset mess-ups and the 3 mindset miracles and 3 ingredients in the Inspired Women Succeed recipe over the past three weeks. Go here to read those and get caught up: http://nacwe.org/blog/

During this past month, I have experienced a massive shift in my mindset also. It includes my decision to move from Wichita Falls to Dallas, an awareness of my money issues that were holding me back and letting go of people that were no longer healthy for me. All of this is about mindset. It is about setting boundaries. It is about choices. It is about being willing to be uncomfortable in order to get to the bigger vision.

Let me share 5 shifts in mindset that you might need to make too.

Mindset Shift #1: From waiting to ACTION.

Often we wait. We watch to see what others will do. We research all of our options and then keep looking for more. We want to make sure the decision is right. But the shift you need to make is into intentional action. Being an entrepreneur involves action taking and that is often risky. We are in a “risky business” so to speak. And if you aren’t willing to take determined and purposeful actions, then you might just want to go look for a J.O.B.

Mindset Shift #2: From hiding to SUCCESS

Lots of “hide and seek” going on from what I see in my clients and the members of NACWE. We have to shift from hiding out and step out to the stage and grab the microphone. Women are guilty of not sharing successes and then wondering why no one knows about them. Stop hiding behind others. For many years in my entrepreneurial career, I felt like I had to be “under” someone or endorsed by a mentor. Well that was a mindset that I created. I stepped out on my own by creating the National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs in May of 2010 and have not looked back.

Mindset Shift #3: From scarcity to ABUNDANCE

We have to move away from the thought that there is NOT ENOUGH. This keeps us feeling small and like we must hunt and peck to get our tiny portion. God is gifted in providing the harvest, and multiplying our resources. My theme for 2013 is LIVE ABUNDANT and it is about seeing how BIG the world is and watching for the opportunities right in front of me. I want you to do the same. There is plenty. Step into the place that God has created for you.

Mindset Shift #4: From wishy washy To DECISIVE

Let your Yes be Yes and your No be NO. As the CEO of your company, you must make quick and smart decisions. If you don’t know, then find out. Or choose to hold off on that decision for 2 days, or 2 weeks. Just choose. Be mindful. Stop living in the land of VAGUE. Get out and stand tall and loud about who you are. Be confident. Yes you will make mistakes with some of your choices. But we must keep moving. The more mistakes I make, the closer I get to the success I seek.

Mindset Shift #5: From fear To TRUST

As a business woman, we have to let go of a lot of fear. Just to get started as an entrepreneur, means telling people about your idea or venture and risking what they might think. Each step forward is about trust. Luckily we have a Father God who is walking with us and holding our hands. He tells us over and over again “Do Not Fear!” or as it says in John 14:1, “Do not let your heart be troubled”. I unabashedly believe that God has given each of us a business and that it is a GIFT. It is not something to be taken lightly. It is our divine duty to use our gift and trust the Gift-Giver.

My prayer for you as we finish this series is that you have been able to let go of thoughts that are NOT healthy and move forward into the SUCCESS that God has called you to.

Here at NACWE, we love providing the “people” support you need in our thriving community at NACWE. As a former mental health counselor, I intimately know that mindset changes are the key factor in your success in business.

We can’t wait for you to come join us as a member of the National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs as we walk the success path together!

  1. Excellent points and advice, all. It’s a fine line between waiting and action…first we wait, then we act and mustn’t forget wait is also a verb. If we act without being sure of God’s perfect will, very often, we’ll receive His permissive will which isn’t His best for us. It’s our ignorant belief it’s our best for us.
I’d rather have God’s perfect will.
