When Will Menopause Be Over?

menopause

When it comes to menopause, there’s a big question that comes up for all of us: When will it end? Recognizing the signs of menopause ‘ending’ is just as important as understanding the signs of its beginning. Menopause doesn’t necessarily end abruptly, the same way it doesn’t begin abruptly. It is a nuanced, personal, and perhaps surprisingly manageable shift into a new era of you.

Not sure if you’re even in menopause — let alone what phase or when it will end? Kindra created a special quiz to help you prepare for, manage, and embrace your body’s natural hormonal shifts. Once you share a little about your personal experience, Kindra is able to shed some light on your personal journey and provide a custom plan tailored to you and designed to help you thrive in this season of life.

What is menopause and why does it happen?

Fun fact — menopause is technically only 1 day in your life. It’s the 12 month anniversary of your last period. The perfectly natural transition years leading up to that day are what’s known as perimenopause. Although many people refer to the overall transition as menopause.

Each woman is born with a specific number of eggs in her ovaries. Our ovaries produce two key hormones  — progesterone and estrogen — which regulate menstruation and ovulation. As we approach menopause, the production of these hormones by our ovaries decreases. It occurs when the ovaries stop releasing eggs and a woman stops menstruating. Periods often become infrequent as we get older; it’s reaching the 12-month marker that makes it official. The #1 thing women love most about reaching menopause is no more periods, so it can be a welcome change for many.

menopauseNot so fun fact — while menopause is normal, healthy, and manageable, the transition is unique to each woman and can consist of any (or many!) of the 34 signs and symptoms of menopause. From hot flashes to vaginal dryness, there are many ways to ease the journey, but most people in their menopause transition do not seek out help. Understanding what to expect is the key to proactive self-care throughout your menopause experience.

Important to note — if you’ve received treatment for breast cancer, had a hysterectomy, or have a genetic predisposition, you may reach menopause early. Also, some health issues — from hypertension to certain cancers — mean estrogen-based menopause solutions, like hormone replacement therapy (HRT), aren’t for everyone. This is why Kindra’s entire line is estrogen-free and designed to support every menopausal body safely and holistically — wherever you are on your journey.  If you’re unsure about your experience and which solutions are right for you, consult with your gynecologist to ensure you are receiving the best support and guidance possible.

What happens after menopause?

Postmenopause is every day after you reach your official menopause moment 12 months after your final period. The signs and symptoms experienced in perimenopause may persist for a few years into postmenopause, but women overwhelmingly report feeling much better in postmenopause. Boundless energy, laser focus, and increased libido are all waiting on the other side. Sleep problems will subside. Your body will begin operating more smoothly. The greatest sign of menopause being ‘over’ is when you begin to intuitively feel that your disruptive symptoms are easing. This means your body is adjusting to the “new normal” of your hormone levels.

Once your hormone levels stabilize, most of the transitional menopausal discomfort subsides — though concerns intrinsically linked to the lower estrogen levels, like vaginal dryness, often persist throughout postmenopause. So it’s important to make adjustments and an ongoing commitment to a self-care routine that supports your body even after menopause.

Kindra’s line of menopause essentials is designed to help you do just that. The best-selling, cult-favorite Daily Vaginal Lotion and revolutionary, reusable Aurora applicator meaningfully improves vaginal dryness by 95%. Kindra’s innovative, plant-powered supplements were formulated especially for women in peri and postmenopause. We love how they improve healthy circulation (goodbye, hot flashes, and night sweats!), mental clarity (so long, mood swings and brain fog!), skin suppleness (take that, dry skin everywhere!), sleep, and energy. Paired with regular checkups with your doctor, a healthy diet, an active lifestyle, and good sleep hygiene, you’ll find the end isn’t the end at all. In many ways, it’s just the beginning.
