Goodness knows who wrote it, since originally thought to be Protestant theologian, Rienhold Niebuhr. However, the origin isn’t what this particular post is about. I’m more interested in the second verse.
Yes! There is a second verse! I think the second verse is even more important than the first verse!! It’s beautiful!!!
God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

I expounded on the Prayer. See it at: debiwandrey.com/2013/05/22/the-answer/
I had no idea there was more to this prayer. How great to know that creed is founded on Truth!
In one way I am shocked that nobody knew about the 2nd verse to the serenity prayer but also glad because if you are in N.A. you KNOW it & know it well. Usually start 90/90 ( 90 meetings in 90days)I pray the drug rate is going down…
