Ready for Reinvention? Where to Begin!

By Pamela Lutrell –

I hope you were able to read my article last month and were encouraged, if not please click here to read it. If you do not like who is staring back at you in the mirror, you just have to choose today to stop fretting and start changing.

I went through a journey of many changes:

1. After living most of my life with long, thick, blonde hair….I went shorter and darker. Though it was such a hard decision to make (Texans love their blondes!), when I first saw it… I knew immediately that this was really me. Really me. My complexion and my eyes looked better. It fit the image in my head I wanted and, honestly, I just do not know why I fought it so long. This one little change shaved years off of me. I discussed the change at length with my stylist and listened to her recommendations before I made the decision. It took courage…but I am happy to say…I will never be blonde again. All you have to do is discover what is best for you…don’t try to be someone else…decide who you are and have the courage to step out of your comfort zone. There are many affordable stylists in every market who are talented. If money is a problem, start shopping around…talking to friends…and determine that you will find someone who can help you within your budget.

2. I researched and found ways to brighten and lift up my skin. Again, there are many affordable products, estheticians, dermatologists in the market. Study…read…understand what your personal skin challenges are. I am an advocate of Olay Products…I use a weekly Olay exfoliate…and in between day and night firming creams. I drink a lot of water every day and I take Vitamin E every day. At night, I put Vitamin E oil drops around my eyes. I try at least once a year to treat myself with a facial!!

3. Let’s face it, girls, white teeth play a huge role in looking younger. Again, I found a product that works for me and I am mindful when I drink coffee, tea, or eat something like blueberries to either brush right after or chew a gum with whitening agents in it right away. My father died of lung cancer and heart disease….I do not smoke.

4. After years and years of battling my weight, I finally found a diet which works for me. I have lost 30 pounds since March and want to keep it going. Don’t give up if you need to shed some pounds…stay focused and determined. You will find the right program for you! Just remember, over 50, you must have an understanding of hormones in order to make good health decisions.

This is where I began. Next month, I will start the conversation with tips on HOW TO DEVELOP PERSONAL STYLE. Until then, please join me on my blog, http://over50feeling40.blogspot.com.
