“O COME ALL ye faithful, joyful and triumphant…”

These are the first few words of a Christmas hymn that many of us sing throughout the holiday season. I found myself humming the song just recently on a warm spring day in April. Nevertheless, when I paused to consider that I was singing a “Christmas song,” I suddenly realized the words were not seasonal but rather served to extend a powerful invitation to the faithful in any time or place.

The song is in fact a summons for those who are true, authentic, constant, and loyal followers—in other words, the faithful. It is a request for those who are joyful, satisfied, and merry, and it is an appeal to those who are triumphant, rejoicing, and victorious.

If you have been discouraged to the extent that you have lost your faith, or if the hustle and bustle of your schedule no longer brings you joy, or if the day-to-day pressures of life have distressed you, then receive this invitation. Come and give Christ your respect, reverence, and devotion. Come and lay your distractions, discouragement, and distress aside. Come and bring him your faithfulness, joy, and victory. Come and give him your gift of thanksgiving for who he is and for all he has done and will do in your life. He is not just here for the holidays. So come, let us adore him, Christ, the Lord.

Your G.I.F.T.: “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting

Father, Prince of Peace.” —Isaiah 9:6
