The Three “F’s” That Block Your Success!

disappointed business woman By  Chris Makell –

When I work with business owners and ask what’s getting in the way of their success, I hear a lot of different answers. Sometime’s it’s time – not enough; focus – don’t know where to put the energy; commitment – not really sure it’s what they want; or money – don’t have any to invest in themselves.

When I ask what kind of business they want to have, the answer is always the same, six or seven figures. This is a great goal to have! But then I point out, that what’s getting in the way of their success is the exact reason why they will not achieve a six or seven figure business.

OK, so you might say, “that’s obvious.” But not always . . . Because what’s getting in the way is usually hiding behind the initial reasons, like the ones listed above, they give themselves for why those blocks exist.

I call them the three “F’s” that block your success – Fear, Failure and Free.

Fear:  Fear is about not wanting to really stand out or ask for what you truly want because of the possibility of rejection. And that’s always a possibility. It’s one that keeps you from experiencing “opportunity,” as well. Fear doesn’t go away when you achieve six or seven figures, but your ability to redirect it so that it serves you, takes over. Master this now and it will just be another stepping-stone to success.

Failure:  Failure means you’ve forgotten that as a child, you fell down a lot before you could walk. And look at you now! Failure happens in business (and in life). It’s deciding to “fail forward” that creates success. That means examining the failure, then trying again using your new knowledge to guide you. With a bigger business making six and seven figures, you’ll experience bigger failures (remember Donald Trump?). However, like Trump, you’ll know how to recover if you experience failure and learn from it.

Free:  Free is an interesting one. Trying to get all the free stuff you can get is not an entirely bad strategy. Getting all the free training, coaching and stuff you can without doing anything with it, is. I’ve seen it many times; when people get something for free, it holds less value and therefore  isn’t used or doesn’t get implemented.

While it’s nice to get “free,” do your business and yourself a favor. Either take one-step forward, test and do more; or pay for it. Spending less than $50 on something of value, though nominal, will push you to take action so that you feel like you got something for your investment. And trust me, you will . . .

If you want to remove your block to success, here is a simple tool to do so. Ask yourself this question whenever one of the “F’s” pops up…

“What would a six or seven figure business owner do?”

If you allow the three “F’s” to put a fence (hey I found another “F”) around your dreams, goals and ultimate business growth, then only you are responsible for blocking your success, not your clients, not the economy, you.
