Daily Devotional – The World Experiences God’s Love Through Us

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 John 3:1-6. God is love and gives love so generously. It is because of His love that we have salvation and the opportunity to know our creator and God at all.

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears,[a] we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.”

If you have received love, you can share it.

There are often many discussions and justifications for why Christians find themselves in church every Sunday. People say that they need to be filled by God, His love, and His Spirit in order to graciously pay it forward.

We have already received such abundant amounts of love. We have received it all shaken up, and compressed in good measure and faith. Is sitting in a church service listening to someone give their opinion about scripture, the only way to receive and fill up with God and His love?

Too many sit week in, and week out in a church building and say that you love others. It is much harder to put yourself into a position where someone sins against you and requires your forgiveness. Being in the thickness and weeds of the world is far more taxing. Having to love and forgive those that bring harm unto me, intentionally or not.

It is in the painful position that I have seen God’s true favor, love and Spirit fall on me. I have experienced God outside the walls of a church far more than within them! Let us be lovers, doers, and givers of the love that God has already given us!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father God, that You have so freely given us love. Your love from the beginning. As I walk through the day, be the strength and love from within me that flows outward to all those that I meet! Help me to forgive and love as You do!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
