Daily Devotional – Wisdom is Trustworthy

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Proverbs 25:18-26. There is nothing worse than being caught out by one that you trusted. Too late we realize our mistake. There is no greater sense of foolishness and disappointment.

“Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow
is one who gives false testimony against a neighbor.
19 Like a broken tooth or a lame foot
is reliance on the unfaithful in a time of trouble.
20 Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day,
or like vinegar poured on a wound,
is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.

21 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat;
if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.
22 In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head,
and the Lord will reward you.

<

23 Like a north wind that brings unexpected rain
is a sly tongue—which provokes a horrified look.

24 Better to live on a corner of the roof
than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

25 Like cold water to a weary soul
is good news from a distant land.
26 Like a muddied spring or a polluted well
are the righteous who give way to the wicked.”

Do unto others as you would have done unto you!

Our economy and lives are built on trust. With all the precautions and security features put in place for commerce, trust is still the backbone. When we order products from an online company, we are trusting that they will deliver after taking our money.

Even buying produce from the local supermarket. We trust that no one has poisoned or infected the food that we are about to eat. Trust is still paramount, no matter how many layers of security are in place.

When our trust is broken we are left broken and lost. Without admitting it, we know how trust is the true currency of life. When we trust someone to be honorable and do what is right, our trust is in them and their character. Let us acknowledge the value of trust and ensure that we are worthy of the trust that others place in us.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, for being trustworthy. After all that You have done for me already, I can trust in You and Your words. Help me by Your Holy Spirit to tryst You fully even though I have been burnt by the misplaced trust before.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
