Daily Devotional – Wisdom Keeps a Clear Mind

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Proverbs 20:1-9. Alcohol and other mind-altering drugs fog your mind and open the path to un-wise decisions. The consumption while not more sinful than telling a lie, will not help you make wise sound decisions.

Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler;

    whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

fall scents for your home

A king’s wrath strikes terror like the roar of a lion;
    those who anger him forfeit their lives.

It is to one’s honor to avoid strife,
    but every fool is quick to quarrel.

Sluggards do not plow in season;
    so at harvest time they look but find nothing.

The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters,
    but one who has insight draws them out.

Many claim to have unfailing love,
    but a faithful person who can find?

The righteous lead blameless lives;
    blessed are their children after them.

When a king sits on his throne to judge,
    he winnows out all evil with his eyes.

Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure;
    I am clean and without sin”?”

Avoiding strife and hardship

I do not wish any hardship on anyone. I follow the words of God in His Bible where He tells us to pray for and love all.

Growing up and studying finance and economics in Africa, I learned very quickly that the governments in Africa have created the poverty that we see in Africa. It breaks my heart to see poor and malnourished children wandering the streets. What hurts me more than anything is the knowledge that it could all be avoided.

Where is the wisdom in the decisions made by the leaders of these people? If they were making wise and honest decisions, caring for each person no matter what, Africa could be the wealthiest continent globally.

It is easier to avoid strife and hardship with wisdom than to try and climb out of the lion’s den. Are you making wise decisions today?

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, for protecting those who make wise decisions. Help me today to be of a clear and sound mind as I make decisions for my family, friends, and myself. May my decisions be ones that honor You and bring You glory!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
